My Story

I am a curious, problem-solving enthusiast, fortunate enough to have carved out a career where work is a journey of learning, experimentation, and discovery. My path as a researcher began with a fascination for the boundless imagination of mathematics and the compelling power of Machine Learning—a journey that started as a young postgraduate in Cuba and continues to fuel my passion for exploring and advancing new ideas.

My research trajectory took off during my PhD in Spain, where I dove into the realms of knowledge formalization, information retrieval, and extraction. At the University Jaume I, I had the privilege of working alongside brilliant researchers in the Department of Languages and Informatics Systems, where I was guided and inspired by dedicated professors. My early projects involved semantic data extraction and analysis for archaeology site excavation reports, working under the guidance of my PhD advisor. This experience laid a strong foundation, leading me to further research in the Department of Computer Systems and Computation at Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, where I focused on semantically annotated information on drug-drug and protein-protein interactions from scientific publications—a challenging yet immensely rewarding endeavour.

In 2011, my curiosity led me to Imperial College London, where I joined the EU-FP7 TRANSFoRm project. There, I worked on semantic formalization and temporal mining of provenance data in healthcare systems, culminating in a successful deployment of our system across major hospitals and clinical trials. This experience expanded my vision and sparked a new ambition: to apply my research insights beyond academia.

Still in London, I embarked on a journey into the private sector, collaborating with talented professionals at reed.co.uk, 10xbanking.com, and RegulAItion. At Reed, I took pride in integrating Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing into each stage of the recruitment process, contributing to meaningful improvements in hiring practices. At 10xbanking, I was thrilled to witness and be a part of its exponential growth. More recently, my role at RegulAItion.com has centered around developing AIR—a platform aimed at addressing data isolation challenges within and across organizations using automation, privacy-enhanced technologies, and federated learning.

Today, with the advent of Large Language Models and the exciting possibilities of transforming diverse data forms (text, images, audio, video) into reliable, high-quality knowledge, I’m thrilled to embark on a new chapter with Dandilion.ai. Being part of this innovative team is a dream come true, fuelling my drive to create impactful solutions and push the boundaries of what’s possible.
